Topic: LHC has more problems!
I had heard recently, about another problem that has come through the Large Hadron Collider in Geneva, Switzerland. I'm sure plenty of people know about it already, but just in case, I'll give a quick explanation.

The LHC is a device that is a giant circle, 27km long, underground. The main idea behind it, is to fire protons around the circle, and continue making them faster and faster using electromagnetic force. The end result is the protons traveling at nearly the speed of light, then colliding with another going the same speed, where they both break into pieces, and people can study whats on the inside of them.

But, the LHC has had problem after problem. At first it was electrical problems, even putting some of the people working on it at risk... then there was a leak of liquid helium into the tubes, which they use to cool it down, and recently there was another problem, apparently caused by a bird dropping a piece of bread into it's outdoor machinery.

Some people have been thinking that the problems haven't been just random, but some sort of unknown force stopping it from working...

"Yes, this theory was recently proposed by a pair of physicists, who suggested the hypothesized Higgs boson, which physicists hope to produce with the collider, might be so abhorrent to nature that its creation would ripple backward through time and stop the collider before it could make the discovery, like a time traveler who goes back in time to kill his grandfather."

The theory has been taken further by so many people, some of the wilder bunch even saying that it is from time travelers from the future, after the LHC caused giant problems on earth, people are trying to go back in time to stop it from happening... other ideas include space aliens, gods, etc, etc...

Here's a site if you'd like to see what some people are saying about it;

So, what do you think? Is it just little problems that happen to a device so complex and gigantic, or is it creatures from the heavenly dimensions of outer space trying to stop us from creating a monster?

ooohh what a difficult question Chris, I have to analyse it, before I can give my real reply.

I can tell one thing directly, I´m a tech fan al kinds of technology, but hate Marko's idea that in nea future we will only soea with robots. Sorry Marko. I prefer human contacts, eye to eye contact etc etc.

I´ll jump in here later on after thinking and read some others points.
Thanks for a great topic.

Now space aliens, why dont they come blow us up? And even if some god was stopping it, why doesnt he let loose a earthquake to settle this argument for good? Thats allways my question, If god is going to stop something why not destroy it. Either way even if this is some other being then god, i highly doubt it. But this LHC thing ya, i'd be right in front of the protest, what if the protons go off course? Hits someone, something?

OOOh shiit,
Thought my LHC game was a local Lan network gaeme.. ://

Of course dont protons like to speed up and smash together with antimateria, the race is fun, not the aftereffect
naaa, there is a secrete proton and boson circle that work against this project... you should hear the quark club, they are really upset..

Chris, even LHC slowed down the 11th of September 2001!!!
Wasn´t one of the purpose of this invention to make them crash, so we might found out what happened in the big bang?

I think all these poblems have eal natural eplanaitons,
Or maybe someone in the staff is real mad on the company.

Thought I read somewhere that LHC is one of the biggest data transfers between supercomputers in the world,
and the amount of data they send was not some few terbyte /day.. With a so big project I guess lot of things can happend..

Heli, They speed up matter fast as possible, one in direction and the other in another, one proton is normal mass and the other is anti materia protn.. as bigger smas as more sub particles and energy will be released,

from that data they can puzzle their math and see what this world contains. Dont know if big bang wil be explaind with that project.

Marko, you don´t have to tell me, have a book about this, but can´t remember which one it was.
But it was really exciting!!
